12 Hours – 12 Themes – 12 Photos
FOTOMARATHON is a photo contest about cities, fun, exploration and challenges, where the participants must interpret some topics within a time limit.
A Fotomarathon is a special photo competition, where the participants must interpret 12 themes within 12 hours and at the same time keep the overall topic in mind to make a kind of series out of the photos.
Fotomarathons have been around for over 30 years, and the idea of FM was born in 1984 in Madrid. It was a competition where the participants had to capture a certain number of photos illustrating given topics within a limited amount of time. This idea was so convincing that more cities followed in the coming years. Now there are about 60 cities worldwide that hold at least one event each year.
On June 6th, 2015, we introduced Fotomarathon to China for the very first time. Shenyang China together with Copenhagen Denmark, Cardiff UK, Nice France, and Berlin Germany, will be sharing their inspiration on the same day.
On June 4th, 2016,the theme of Fotomarathon was "Going Places". We led thousands pairs of eager eyes to record the city—— its industrial engine, its once prosperous clan ancestral hall, its maze of entrancing nameless alleys; We had snatch the best place and seized the flow of time.
FM is returning in 2017. With our previous success and experience,we are directing a "Tale of Three Cites". Beijing,XI'an and Shenyang, will continue to fulfill the mission of caputuring the city's inspiration. As ancient capitals and modern metropolises, these three cities bore the weighe of civilization, and are now carrying the responsibility to lead the future. In this three-city exploration tour, seeking the city's inspiration remain the common theme.
