1. Basic conditions
Anyone over 18 years of age can participate. Minors under 18 years can also participate, in company of an adult and under the agreement of their tutors or guardians.
You need a digital camera to participate and you must bring an empty memory card.
All photos must be taken during the Fotomarathon day within the given 12 hours (please check your camera date settings). The photos should not be retouched or post-processed or renamed and must be taken in the order given in the theme lists. We will control the EXIF data through a special program when we download the photos. There should only be 12 photos on the memory card by the time they are downloaded. Less than or more than 12 photos will result in disqualification.
2. The 1st Photo: Include your starting number
Every participant is allocated an individual start number that must appear on the first photo, so each series can be identified. The first photo is a challenge: it starts off the series (think of the overall topic), has its own theme (1. photo=1. theme) and has to show your starting number. You can be creative to include the number: house numbers, signs, car license plates, etc.
3. The Format and Settings
Only JPG formats will be accepted. Please be sure that your camera has been set on “high quality” JPG format. Due to the way in which the photos will be shown in the exhibition, we recommend that you set your format to 2:3.
Any camera setting is allowed, as long as it was set before taking the photo, for example color or b/w. Once the shutter is released, don’t change the photo! The camera setting may change from one photo to the next though.
The “opening shot” of the Fotomarathon takes place at 9:00 am. For the exact location, see the Registration page when open. (Follow us on WeChat and Facebook). It is strongly recommended that participants arrive earlier to sign in. The Fotomarathon team will be present from 7:30 am at the starting point.
Participants must be at the starting point at least 30 min before the start and come punctually at the scheduled times to the stations – otherwise they will be excluded from the competition. At those stations they will receive the new set of themes and the information about the next meeting point! When coming to the final destination you will have the chance to sort your photos and erase all those photos that you don’t want to hand in. Have your memory card ready, only 12 photos on the card! If you want to keep all your photos, bring a laptop and download them, then erase what is not needed!! Do it with care and don’t erase what you want to hand in! Be ready to hand in your photos between 8-9pm the latest!
5. Starting number
A starting number, which identifies you as Fotomarathonist will be provided at the starting point. This starting number has to be visibly carried around all day.
6. Intermediate Stations
All stations are within Shenyang´s city limits. Every four hours the participants have to come to the next station to get the new set of themes. After receiving a new list of themes, participants return to the big city jungle. Only those coming to the stations in person will receive the new list of themes and the instructions on where to find the next station…so do not miss the appointment.
7. End of the day
If you make it to the Finish line until 9 pm and all 12 photos are on your memory card, then you have made it! There must only be 12 photos on the card, otherwise you will be disqualified. Your start number will need to have the stamps of every station.
Participants who fail to arrive at the Finish line by 9.00 pm will be excluded from the final selection.
8. Exhibition and Award ceremony
By taking part at the Fotomarathon you agree to have your photos exhibited during our exhibition.
9. Last but not least
